Michael Scott

Commercial & Agricultural

Michael Scott is a solicitor and partner who has very strong local roots.

He attended the King’s School, Pontefract and following a law degree at Durham University undertook his training contract with Moxon & Barker and has been with us ever since.

He is the head of the Commercial Property and Agricultural Departments where he is ably assisted by his colleague Charis Cossins. In 2007 he was awarded a Master’s Degree in Advanced Commercial Property Law.

Although his sporting achievements (three London Marathons) are now behind him he is still a regular squash player and golfer and an enthusiastic rugby supporter.

Abi Firoz

Residential Property

Abi Firoz is a partner and a solicitor who leads the Residential Property Department.

Abi’s interest in the law stemmed from a very young age, her aim in life was quite simply to help other people.

Abi graduated from the University of Huddersfield with LLB (Hons) Law and completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Lancashire Law School. Having trained and qualified in Manchester and after gaining experience with a regional practice in Leeds, she joined Moxon & Barker in the summer of 2010.

With the high quality of the work and clients Moxon & Barker attracts, Abi has not looked back since!

She specialises in all aspects of residential conveyancing. Her calm and approachable nature means she is popular with both her clients and all members of staff. Abi is dedicated and provides a high level of personal service from the start to the very end of a conveyancing matter.

Outside of work Abi spends time with her family. She likes walking, travelling, spa breaks and exploring the great outdoors.

Nicola Atkin

Wills & Probate

Nicola coordinates the firm’s IT and communication systems; she is passionate about automating the firm’s legal services to ensure quality and efficiency in its delivery.

She has specialised in private client law ever since qualifying as a solicitor, and particularly enjoys dealing with elderly client matters, such as Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection, Wills, Trusts, Inheritance Tax planning, and Probate.

In her spare time, Nicola is a season ticket holder at Leeds United, and enjoys live music and theatre.

Charis Cossins

Commercial & Agricultural

Charis graduated with a degree in Law from Keele University in 2007 and joined Moxon and Barker in March 2017.

After graduating Charis has enjoyed a variety of different roles from working in the NHS, a Housing Association and the West Yorkshire Playhouse. She believes the variety of roles have provided her with excellent client care skills; she is approachable, a good communicator and is able to prioritise the needs of each individual.

Charis has a number of years of experience in residential conveyancing and is currently working with Michael Scott in the Commercial Property Department.

In her free time Charis can often be found either in the swimming pool, out on her bike or running around the racecourse. She is a member of the local triathlon club and has competed in several short distance events. Her next challenge will be buying a wetsuit and wild swimming in rivers.
